Making sample cards

Hi everyone - did you see that sunset tonight?  Wasn't it glorious?  I couldn't take my eyes off the changing colour.

Having set aside some time today for me to have a play making some samples I got a little despondent when things didn't work out quite right.  Plus added to that I appear to have lost a set of pigment ink pads.  They are the small square ones & I had them in a little clear plastic box with a lid.  I think I used them at at least one club night when we were doing the Thumping Technique & also the Ghosting Technique & I think I took them to a workshop I attended as well - but I have no idea after those events.  They were pads I have had a while but had started to use again as they were suitable for several new techniques.  Never mind - either someone will say "I have your ink pads" - or - they will turn up - or - I will never see them again.  Life goes on.

So! these samples - a couple didn't work too well but then I realised there was a reason why not & I could still use them in my demo.

You know how sometimes you look amongst your stamps for something to use for a particular technique or card & just cannot make up your mind.  That was another problem today - but then like a crafting angel - I had, right on time today, a delivery from C&C.  Three stamps I had ordered from a Stamps Away show. All 3 were floral & one in particular really suited what I wanted to do. One of the others will work just as well also - but the one I am going to show you was just perfect.

The technique is called Faux silk & it is the project for tomorrow evenings meeting of Mold club. Mold II club & CSNW will be doing this later on.

So here are my samples - I am not going to explain the technique here - just wait until it comes to your club night.

I just love this technique it is so delicate, & aren't those tulips gorgeous.  The other flowers in the set were Lily & Snowdrops.  The snowdrop may not work too well with this technique - but the Lily will.

So there you are - that is what I have been doing.

More tomorrow.
'Bye for now.  Night night.

New follower

Hi everyone, as I posted my last post I noticed that I now had another follower.  Looking carefully at the followers I have I am certain the new lady is Marina.  So welcome Marina I hope you enjoy your visits.

cd sunday - something beginning with D

Just popping back in to edit this post - as I forget to add the link to the CD Sunday blog - sorry ladies.

Good afternoon & isn't it good to see the sunshine?  I am keeping fingers crossed it will be reasonably good tomorrow (Saturday) too as I have plants to put in the garden.

The challenge at CD Sunday this week is "something beginning with D" - that makes it quite open but the mind keeps stopping around the same things.  Anyway I did come up with a "D" & have made a card;

My "D" is for Daffodils & Decoupage (although only a little bit!).  I used My Craft Studio CD "Just for You", Design set 7.

I used the daffodil background paper & one of the toppers. I didn't have a ready folded card to fit the background paper so I created one from a white A4 card & used it tent style, & used Distress Ink - Crushed Olive - around the edges of the bp.  When sorting the work on MCS I cropped the topper twice to have 2 copies of the bottom left corner, & from one of these I cut out the 3 daffodils & mounted them on sticky pads.  I had this really lovely yellow ribbon which I wrapped around the topper & bp before mounting it onto the base card & adding the 3-d flowers.  Some yellowy flat backed pearls were added at the base of several of the leaf bases.  The "happy birthday" was stamped using Distress Ink - Vintage Photo to match the leaves & fronds.

Thank you for stopping by & why not pop over to CD Sunday by clicking on the name at the start of this post, & see what others have created.  I am about to pop over there - so! I will see you there.

CD Sunday - Sketch with Jenny

Good afternoon everyone.  In this post I am going to show the card that I have made for this weeks CD Sunday challenge.

The theme this week is open - but we have a sketch to guide us on layout.  Now - I love sketches because I love the inspiration they give me & I store them away for when my mojo takes a holiday!

Here is the sketch;

Here is my card;

The base card is cream with a gold shimmer - which I cut from an A4 sheet to suit the design. Now, the CD I used is a freebie on a magazine called "Digital Essentials" (well, there were 2 CD's actually).  They contain images, paper, embellishments etc from a variety of companies & designers.  For example, Dreamees, Kim Dellow, Kate Hadfield, Hot off the Press, Lilac & Lavender & others.

The floral images were taken from Lilac & Lavender's section.  I trimmed the images & placed them on these Kraft tags which I had to trim to suit the toppers.  The trim behind the images is a strip of the same card which I cut with my picot edged scalloped scissors & I lightly coloured it with Vintage Photo distress Ink to create a contrast.  I also coloured the tag strings & stamped the sentiment with the same ink. A group of pearl gold coloured gems at 2 of the corners to finish. The other thing I did was to "scribble" a random squiggle line around the card edges to give it a frame. I used a very fine Signo Uni-ball pen in green. Not sure what I think.  I like the squiggle frame - not sure about the green.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.
